Hi! I’d like to make this for our Christmas party! A couple questions: 1. which bourbon or whiskey seems to go best? We have Makers Mark and Jameson on hand. 2. Have you made this ahead of time and cooked later? I’m wondering if I can prep everything in the morning, refrigerate it, and then bake it later after dinner so it’s freshly baked for dessert.
Desserts & Drinks says
Hi Angela! Either bourbon or whiskey works great. We’ve never tried making it ahead of time, so can’t say that we would recommend it. However, you could mix the dry ingredients and have your liquid ingredients measured out and ready to go that morning! The prep time is actually pretty quick and effortless, the bake time is what takes the longest. I hope you enjoy the recipe!

When you’ve got a gallon of bourbon, want some sweets, and rocking a steady buzz at 2 in the morning, this cake is easy enough to throw together. I didn’t even have to worry about driving, had all the ingredients in my pantry already, besides the bourbon, that was in my room. When all was said and done I had a piece with a cup of coffee (heavy on the bourbon), and ooooohweeeeee was it well worth it, needless to say cake is better when it’s drunk too!
