This Rum Margarita recipe is truly the BEST! Easily made with your choice of rum, orange liqueur (or freshly squeezed orange juice), lime juice, agave, and a flaky salt rim to finish it off. There's nothing more perfect than these refreshing rum margaritas on the patio for warmer days!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ounces rum
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec) or 1 ounce fresh orange juice + 2 teaspoons agave
  • 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon agave syrup optional
  • ice
  • margarita salt
  • lime wedge

Instructions
 

  • Coat the glass rim with lime juice and dip the edge of the rim into a bowl of margarita salt (or any type of coarse salt), turning until the entire rim is salted.
  • Fill the glass with ice.
  • Combine rum, orange liqueur, lime juice, and agave syrup (optional) in a cocktail shaker.
  • Add ice and shake until well-mixed and chilled.
  • Pour the margarita into the glass filled with ice.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!

Notes

For a Frozen Rum Margarita:
  • Rim your glass with a little bit of lime juice and margarita salt.
  • Blend the rum, orange liqueur, lime juice, agave, and ice together in a blender.
  • Pour into your glass, garnish with lime, and enjoy!
