Prepare the homemade cinnamon rolls dough and filling, then set in the fridge until ready to use.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Drizzle a little bit of oil over the bottom of a 7x11" casserole dish, a 9x9" baking dish, or a 10.25" cast iron skillet.
Pour the apple pie filling into the dish.
Tear the cinnamon roll dough into small pieces and add on top of the pie filling.
If desired, toss cubed apples with lemon juice and add on top.
Add the cubed butter and brown sugar over the apple pieces.
Bake for 30 minutes uncovered. The cinnamon rolls will be puffed up and slightly golden brown.
Lightly tent with foil and bake for another 15 minutes to ensure the cinnamon rolls are fully cooked through.
When done, let cool for about 3-5 minutes.
Whisk the icing ingredients together or use the icing pack that comes with the cinnamon rolls and drizzle it over the entire dish. Enjoy!
