How to Make Matcha Brownies (Easy Recipe)
It’s so easy to make this Matcha Brownies recipe! Here’s how to put it together in 30 minutes:
- Melt the butter and chocolate together in a large bowl, then add the rest of the fudge brownie ingredients and mix. Set aside.
- Melt the butter and white chocolate together, then stir in the rest of the matcha brownie ingredients and mix.
- Fill the bottom of an 8×8″ baking pan lined with parchment paper with 1/2 of the fudge brownie mixture.
- Add the matcha brownie mixture over it.
- Finish it off with the remaining fudge brownie layer.
- Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees F., let cool, slice into squares, and enjoy!




Tips for Fudgy Green Tea Brownies
- You can layer these brownies any way you want! The flavor and taste is still amazing.
- If you want more of a “marbled” effect, feel free to swirl a little bit of the matcha brownie layer with the fudge brownie layer.
- For fudgy brownies, 45 minutes in the oven is perfect. However, the brownies can set a bit more by cooking them for up to 50 minutes!
- The level of sweetness is excellent in these brownies, but you can always take things up a notch with a caramel drizzle or extra white chocolate chunks on top!

Ingredients
Fudge Brownie Batter
- 6 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 ounces semi sweet chocolate bar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup canola or vegetable oil
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs, cold
- 1 large egg yolk, cold
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Matcha Brownie Batter
- 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 ounces white chocolate bar, chopped
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons matcha powder
- 3 Tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 large egg, cold
- 1 large egg yolk, cold
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
Prep
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare an 8”x8” pan by greasing with baking spray and lining with parchment paper, allowing some of the parchment to overhang the pan for easy removal.
Make The Fudge Brownie Batter
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt together the butter and semi sweet chocolate in the microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted.
- Mix in the oil and cocoa powder. Whisk in granulated sugar and brown sugar.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch and salt.
- Whisk dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix/fold with a rubber spatula until thick and well combined. Set aside the batter.
Make The Matcha Brownie Layer
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt together the butter and white chocolate in the microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted.
- Whisk in the oil and matcha. Mix in granulated sugar and brown sugar.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.
- Sift the flour and salt into the liquid ingredients & mix/fold with a rubber spatula until thick and well combined.
Combining The Layers
- Spoon half of the Fudge Brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth into an even layer with a spoon.
- Spoon the Matcha Brownie batter on top and spread into an even layer.
- Spoon the remaining Fudge Brownie batter on top of the matcha layer and spread until it covers the matcha layer.
Bake
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top of the brownie is crackly and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
- Place the brownie pan onto a wire rack to cool for 20 minutes, then lift the parchment paper overhang to remove the entire brownie and allow it to cool for 1 hour.
- Once fully cooled, cut into 16 squares and enjoy!
