St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail Recipe

While green beer is fun, I prefer sweet green cocktails and this St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail is the perfect one! The whiskey used in this recipe is a traditional Irish Whiskey but you can substitute it with just about anything you have on hand. The lemon and melon flavors bring us right into the spring, too!

The recipe makes two smaller cocktails or one large drink. Serve it on St. Patrick’s Day for a themed drink, or add it to your spring and summer hosting menu. Maybe it’ll bring a little luck your way!

Ingredients

With just 5 ingredients, and one cocktail shaker, these drinks are so easy to make! Here’s what you’ll need:

Jameson Irish Whiskey – Feel free to use whatever whiskey you have on hand. Jameson is a blended whiskey with a punchy flavor. It stands up well to the sweetness of the melon liqueur.

Midori – This gives the drink a bright green color and sweet melon flavor.

Lemon Juice & Honey – Sweet and tart balances the whole drink. Fresh lemon juice is always best for cocktails. You can substitute simple syrup for the honey if you prefer!

Egg White – Sounds weird, I know! But when shaken with the cocktail and ice, the proteins change and make the most delightful froth.

How to Make a St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail

I love it when a cocktail gets shaken together at one time, it makes putting it together so easy! Follow these simple steps to make an easy and delicious St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail:

  1. Add the ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add in a handful of ice.
  3. Shake vigorously for 1 minute. Time yourself – the egg white needs the full minute to do its magic!
  4. Strain into two glasses of your choice, garnish with a lemon twist, serve, and enjoy!

Tips & Pairings

Whiskey – You can substitute the Jameson with any whiskey of your choice! Don’t leave it out though, the drink would be too sweet without the whiskey.

Midori – If you don’t love melon flavors, you can substitute it with another sweet liqueur you like, like green apple vodka or sour apple schnapps.

Garnishes – A lemon twist is easy to make, just follow these directions. You could also top the drink with green sugar sprinkles, lemon slices, or fresh honeydew slices.

Pairings – The sweet and tart flavor of this cocktail would pair well with the traditional foods served on St. Patrick’s Day like corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, and shepherd’s pie. You can also pair it with flavors that match like fresh melon drizzled with honey, or a delicious lemon dessert like Lemon Bar Cookies.
