This Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini is basically a pumpkin spice latte with a boozy twist! Bold espresso, smooth vodka, and coffee liqueur create the classic coffee flavor you know and love in traditional espresso martinis. Then, we add maple syrup, pumpkin spice, and pumpkin puree to amplify the flavor without making it overpowering. Add whipped cream and cinnamon, and you’ve got the ultimate festive cocktail for holiday parties, girls’ nights, or just a cozy night in!

Ingredients
The ingredients for this pumpkin spice espresso martini are surprisingly simple. In fact, you probably have most of them on hand! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Espresso Shot – Use a lungo shot of espresso, which is a type of espresso made by using more hot water and a longer extraction time. This creates a bigger, slightly more diluted shot of espresso. You can also use two ounces of strongly brewed coffee instead.
- Vodka – Use your favorite brand!
- Coffee Liqueur – This is sweet and has a strong coffee flavor. Kahlúa is one of our favorite brands.
- Milk – Full-fat milk will create the creamiest consistency, but you can use any regular or non-dairy milk you have on hand.
- Maple Syrup – Add more or less to taste.
- Pumpkin Puree – Make sure to use pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, which has added sugar and spices. The only ingredient should be pumpkin!
- Pumpkin Spice – Pumpkin spice adds warm notes and depth to the drink.
- Toppings – Optional but highly recommended whipped cream and cinnamon (or pumpkin spice) add the perfect finishing touch!

How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini
This drink will impress all your friends and family and have you feeling like a professional mixologist, but it comes together in 5 minutes! All you need is a cocktail shaker. Here’s how to make an espresso martini with pumpkin spice:
- Combine – Pour all the ingredients except the toppings into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously to combine.
- Strain – Strain the liquid into a martini or coupe glass. We like to use a spoon to get any froth out of the shaker and add it to the top of the drink!
- Top – Add a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin spice, and enjoy cold!

Make a Large Batch
Serving a crowd? No worries! You can easily turn this single-serving recipe into a batch. Adjust the ingredients, depending on how many drinks you’re making. Then, follow the instructions as usual, working in batches if needed, and pour the liquid into separate glasses before adding the toppings.
TIP: You could even add these ingredients to a blender and lightly blend to mix, then add in ice, shake the blender pitcher, and strain as you pour!
Toppings and Pairing Ideas
We love to serve this drink as a dessert cocktail alongside some of our favorite fall treats. If we’re feeling extra festive, we even experiment with different toppings. Some of our favorite options are below:
Toppings
- Graham Cracker Crumbs
- Chocolate Shavings
- Caramel Sauce
- Mini Marshmallows (bonus if you toast them!)
- Festive Sprinkles
Pairings

Tips
- Make Brewing Easy – We love using the Nespresso machine for espresso shots, especially for cocktails, because it’s super quick and easy to use!
- Create a Foamy Consistency – Be sure to shake your drink pretty aggressively for at least 10-15 seconds. This is what combines the ingredients and creates a signature fluffy, foamy layer on top of the drink.
- Chill Your Glass – Pop your martini or coupe glass in the freezer for a few minutes before pouring to keep your cocktail nice and cold.
- Adjust the Sweetness – Taste your drink before pouring. If it’s too bitter, add more maple syrup, and shake again. If it’s too sweet, add a little more coffee to help dilute the flavor.

Variations
- Decaf – Swap the espresso for decaf espresso or strong decaf coffee so you can enjoy it any time of day.
Dairy-Free – Use oat milk, almond milk, or coconut milk instead of dairy for a creamy, plant-based option. Then, opt for a dairy-free whipped cream, or skip it entirely. - Mocha Pumpkin Spice Martini – Mix in ½ ounce of chocolate liqueur or a spoonful of chocolate syrup for hints of chocolate flavor.
- Boozier Option – Add a splash of Irish cream, hazelnut liqueur, or even spiced rum to experiment with different fall flavors.
- Mocktail Version – Skip the vodka and liqueur, and use espresso, pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, milk, and maple syrup. Shake as usual, strain, and serve.
Make Ahead Option
Once prepared, this drink is best served right away. The ingredients will settle at the bottom if it sits too long!
However, if you want to prep ahead of time, whisk the espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, maple syrup, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin spice together (without the ice or milk), and store the mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
When you’re ready to serve, add the milk, shake the mixture with ice, and strain it into a glass. It will taste as good as new!
