Ingredients You’ll Need
Matcha Powder – This matcha powder is one of the best for lattes. It blends in beautifully and has a delicious, balanced flavor! It’s best to use a high-quality matcha (or ceremonial grade matcha) powder for lattes whenever possible!
Hot Water – The water can be heated up in the microwave or in a stovetop kettle.
Raw Sugar – Honey, maple syrup, or simple syrup all work great as well.
Pure Vanilla Extract – This is truly the best way to get that signature vanilla flavor in your latte!
Milk – Both dairy and non-dairy milk works great. However, some types of milk tend to froth better than others! Regular milk, whole milk, creamy oat milk, coconut milk, soy milk, and cashew milk are often the best options for lattes.
TIP: Use this milk frother to easily heat up the milk and get it frothy at the same time!
How to Make a Vanilla Matcha Latte
A vanilla matcha latte can easily be made in 5 minutes or less, making it perfect for busy mornings! Here’s how to put this latte recipe together:
- Place the matcha powder in a coffee mug.
- Pour in the hot water and whisk with a matcha whisk.
- Mix in sugar and vanilla.
- Steam and froth the milk, then pour into the matcha and stir together.
- Top with milk foam, whipped cream, or anything else you like!
A Note About Whisking Matcha
To get the very best matcha latte, it’s best to use a bamboo whisk. This is a great way to ensure that there aren’t any clumps in your latte. However, you can also use a handheld electric whisk or regular whisk, if necessary!
Don’t have a whisk on hand? You can also blend the matcha with the hot water!

We love matcha. Years ago I studied the Japanese tea cerimony. That was an incredible experience. This latte is perfect to have now with our cool Temps. Perfect to curl up with and a good book or background music!

Who needs fancy syrups when you can use real vanilla extract! I love that I can control the amount of sugar here while still keeping the vanilla flavor the same.

I’m not the most skilled cook, but this recipe was foolproof. The instructions were clear, and the result was a nice foamy latte. It’s reassuring to find recipes that make you feel like a chef (or barista) without the stress.
